BitQoute: Franklin Delano Roosevelt

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

Places: Monument Valley, Southwest, USA

A Navajo Nation National Park, the red sandstone structures in Monument Valley are some of the most amazing natural wonders of the southwestern United States.  Large sandstone buttes and mesas dot the Monument Valley landscape.

The large and beautiful valley landscape is located close to the  four corners area of the southwestern United States where Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico meet. The Tribal Visitors Center and the only hotel in the valley is located in Utah.

Many of the buttes and rock formations have been given nicknames by travellers and Navajo guides in the park, names like the 3 sisters, the thumb, and the mittens.  Wind and water shaped the impressive rock formations over millions of years.  Navajo guides at the visitors center can take visitors throughout the valley and point out rock formations that look incredibly like the nicknames they have been given.

When visiting the region a trip down highway 163 isn’t enough, visitors should take the opportunity to either hike or take a guided tour through the valley, they won’t be disappointed.
